Matthew 6:22-23 (KJV)-
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Today I would like to share a thought with you about the above scripture. In this passage, verse 22 states that the eye is the light of the body. That is a Huge job. To be the guide for the WHOLE BODY! Whoa, would you want that responsibility? The scripture goes on to say that if the the eye is the the light to the body, then the body should be full of light. Wow! The scripture is giving us “no excuses”. You’re probably thinking, “so Jasmyne, when someone sees me, they should see “light”?” Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying! The word states, “let your light so shine before men, that they see your good works & glorify your Father which is in Heaven”.
So let’s break this down, if the eye sees to guide us to goodness, then the body should follow? Why, yes! Because the body is to be pure as the eye sees it. Man, no excuse! The next verse states that if the eye sees no light the body has no light to show, therefore is dark. Who wants to be seen as “dark” or “evil”? No one. So what you can do is fix your eyes on the true light, the guide, the Word wrapped in flesh, my Messiah, the one who died for us to see the Eternal “light”. No excuses!
